-- Day 9 -- Border Crossing

Well we left our plush hotel in the seedy district of town. It was very nice to be able to leave our bags somewhere as we wandered the city. Andrew found a new passion in Munich, in the form of the Magic Huit girl. We're not sure what the ad is for but she is very attractive. We have experienced a new form of train, slightly better than the others. Question has arisen in my mind about whether Lauren actually appreciates the postcards. Feelings are still very torn about this, between missing her and enjoying being away.

-- Day 9 -- Salzburg Schmalzburg

Well entering Austria was amazingly anti-climatic. For the second city in a row we have been accoused by older women about finding a place to stay, this one was exterimely annoying. She said something about today being a Catholic holiday, but I couldn't figure out what it could be. We ventured on to the hostel with a slight detour through the residential part of town. In other cities we have had problems getting our check, but in this we find it harder to get served. For dinner we followed to guide to a recommended

chinese place, it was very weird to hear Asians speaking German. Saw another Ferrari wandering the city also walked out to see a palace with some really nice gardens. There were some beautiful views of mountians. We have be approached more for money in this city than any other. The town revolves around Mozart, and you will see everything possible with his likeness on it. We did much walking today and all of our feet hurt.

-- Day 10 -- Munchkins Euro-Style

We really miss our hotel room in Munchen, as the hostel was overrun with young anoying children running through the halls. There were also a group of teenagers listening to loud really poor music next door. Of course not to mention our roommate who deemed it nessicary to get up at 6:15. We caught the train to Vienna and on route tried to come up with some where to stay. Arriving in Vienna we made some calls to determine where was available to stay our three evenings, and after many failures we found a nice

cheap hotel in a brownstone near the fashion district it seemed to say. We once again have our own shower but the toilet is down the hall and very strange. After the hotel we wandered the streets seeing some big old buildings, but the overcast sky and big gusts of wind took away from the overall beauty. Once again we ate Itallian, but this time out of sheer humger. It has become apparent that our trip to Europe has encompassed basically striving to go from meal to meal; eating, drinking and wandering aimlessly. We were going to go to the resturaunt with the

most famous schnitzel in Vienna, but it seems to be plenty popular and pleanty small, so we consulted the Berkley guide and wound up at a very nice resturaunt known for it's wines. There we ordered a bottle of Cabarnet Saviongnion Merlot that was extremely good, we ate heartily, and topped off our meal with a cognac each. Pricey yes, but worth it. David was made the fool by the waither, for using his dinner knife to butter his bread. It seems everywhere we go things are under construction, either they like their upkeep or they all just have the same time table.

-- Day 11 -- Rocks, Rocks, and Rolls

Finally found a place where breakfast is served at a decent time, but still only two made it, one not being me. Went Museuming, seeing lots of rocks, it is amazing how similar they can be. We saw some other cool natural histroy stuff too, and visited the art museam. This is where we learned that the traveling was catching up to us in our feet, as it hurt to move. We then tried to find some certain things in the city recomended by the guide, but the streets are in such a weird illogical pattern that it makes it difficult. Finnaly found the bakery Demel's, but

-- Day 11 -- Austrian Beauty

have yet to find the pastery shop for the picture. We ate lunch at a local university hang out, and sipped on coffee at a typical cafe. Once again it being Saturday we found no one working and very few stores open. We ate dinner at what seemed to be a local hangout for many high-school and early college aged people. It was very good and there were many attractive women there one of whom was out waitress. This city definitly has it's ups, but the weather is awefully cold to make it really enjoyable.

-- Day 12 -- Sunny days...

Well our last full day in Vienna turned out to be the nicest, too bad it was a sunday and nothing was open. We did hit some more museam type stuff, looking at the old Greek stuff, along with musical instruments and lost of Middle-ages armor. Ate breakfast, if you can call it that, at Demel's and it was the best we've ever had. Wish there was a better internet cafe in the city. Saw yet another Ferrari, which makes one for each city we've been in. We venture to Innsbruck tomorrow, not sure what time yet though, hope to get some shopping done in the next few days. Really wish things

-- Day 12 -- Local Yokel

were open more regularly. Went to the canal, and saw all the people wandering. One thing I have noticed and like about Europe is that they take there dogs everywhere. We haven't gotten the chance to do everything we wnted, but that leaves something to come back for down the road. Mailed more postcards, but realized I missed a couple of people to send to. Dinner was again at a local establishment so far the only place we've been where english was not well spoken bu the waitress. Have gromn to enjoy cofee, maybe it is just the vienese blend, but

-- Day 12 -- Serving Gratuity

it is very good. We're slowly catchung on to this whole eating/tipping thing. It has taken the whole trip but we have managed. Andrew strayed away from the German brewing companies and had som Guinness. I am still trying all the local brews. David has grown to accept Radler as a drink, has stated that he will never have another drink when this trip is done, so who knows what his reasons are. David has proven to be quite and fully psychotic on this trip.
